Then I'd say the answer for all practical purposes is YES. Most airlines pull the immigration rules from the same shared database, so if that database says a visa is required, then it's very likely that the airline will require it, even if the database is wrong, as they're going to assume that it's right (and it probably is, since errors are likely discovered and corrected very quickly in this database).

Have a look at http://www.immihelp.com/visas/scheng...ansit_visa.pdf

The answer is yes. However if the passenger has a valid residence permit for one of the EEA countries, Canada or the United States, or travels on a diplomatic, service or special passport, the answer is no.

You should always use the tool below to determine what Visas one might need. It really depends.

As a rule of thumb, there are 4 factors that come into play when determining if a DATV is required for any country.

a) Citizenship
b) Residency
c) Itinerary
d) Other visas held

To get a definitive answer, you need to have the above data points to plug into Timatic.

Just wondering if there has been any change in this situation? I am an indian passport holder, who is a permanent resident of Hong Kong. I will be arriving in BCN on SQ and have a connection within 90 mins to the UK. I have a valid 5 year multiple visa for the UK and for Singapore.

Seems pointless to get a visa which costs EUR55. My agent says no need (im only travelling with hand luggage) but timatic says one is needed.

Can anyone shed some light?

According to (for example) the website of the Spanish Consulate in London, an Indian passport holder does require a transit visa to pass through a Spanish airport, even airside, unless the holder is a permanent resident of Canada, the EU, or the USA.

Therefore, unfortunately, the airline won't allow you to board without this documentation.

Where are you starting your journey from? Is it essential to pass through Spain (or any other EU country)?
