new toolbar
As you may not be aware, the new toolbar is up and running.
500 miles for downloading it and up to 100miles per month for searches.
No counter though, so I'm not aware of how we can assure 100miles/mo for searches will be posted.
The search speed is faster at least from my limited exprience with it.

I downloaded the MileagePlus Shopping Assistant (MPSA) for the 500 miles, but when after I did so, I can't open Firefox. I downloaded the MPSA in IE, not Firefox, so I don't understand why it had any effect in Firefox. But when I uninstalled the MPSA, I was then able to open Firefox again, and when I downloaded the MPSA a 2nd time, I again couldn't open Firefox. Not sure what to do.
Why would they eliminate the counter with the new search engine?
Did anyone see how long it will take the 500 miles to post? tls

Im going to wait to get the sign up points to post.
There is very little confidence the searches per month will post, there is absolutely no evidence you could point to if in question.
I've saved all screen shots of the sign up and process, there's indisputable proof for that.

Unfortunately, I think this a good idea. But at least getting the 500 miles for the download would be something. tls

Hmm, well, to answer my own question, I have written down that it is supposed to take 2-6 weeks to get the 500 miles for dowloading the new toolbar. I don't remember seeing that, but I wouldn't have written down if I hadn't seen it at the time of downloading. Can anyone else confirm this? tls

Just checked my email, and didn't see a timeframe in it, or even a reference to the new download opportunity for miles. tls

Shopping Assistant now available for Mac
Just downloaded the shopping assistant for Mac. Apparently, its now available - through I signed up to get an email when this happened, I didn't, but found it randomly. Showing Mac OS X as the requirement.
Download was pretty simple. Though I like the old one much better. The mileage earned no longer shows up on the assistant itself. Instead, when navigating to a participating site, there is a pop over that comes down from the top of the window listing how many miles you can earn, then you have to click a button that says "earn miles." Once you've done that, it redirects you to a new version of the homepage, and produces a new pop over that says completing a purchase will earn X miles.
As previously noted, no counter for searches any longer. But UA logo pops up beside items on search items found, whether done from the toolbar, or from a non-toolbar search on participating search engines, to indicate the site participate in MP shopping.
