Seat Waitlisting
Hi everyone, I am a last minute flight booker. Whether it is coach or business seems like there are always only center seats 72 hours out. Can United wait-list me for an aisle or window seat? Do your travel agents have this functionality?

I'd create a notification on expertflyer.com . You can select the seats you want it to monitor and it'll send you an email when one opens up.

As to the second part of your question, I am not aware of any functionality on any website or reservation system that allows you to "waitlist" for a particular seat or seat type and automatically assign you to it when available.

No and no. There are often "blocked" seats that open at check-in (or are only available at the airport). Best advise is to check-in early (on-line) and to arrive at the gate early and ask the agent. Some good gate agents will try to grab better seats for you if they become available (upgrades, no-shows, misconnections, etc) but not all.
