After two previous attempts, the name of the neighborhood was changed to Central Park amid increasing political and racial pressure on August 1, 2020 due to Stapleton's adherence to white supremacy and controversial membership in the Ku Klux Klan.

Yes the area name change was finally done 3 years ago, but there were prior attempts made many times, many years ago.
However, much of the side discussion was about having to go back to the Stapleton area to get a DEN hotel airport. That was due to a side deal done when the airport moved to its present location (1995), but that deal expired 15-20 years ago and hotels near DEN have been available for at least 15 years. The Westin opened 8 years ago.
