VS Seat availability

VS Seat availability
So I am due for my first ever VS flights in the coming weeks.
I will be in PE and on the LHR - JFK leg it's a 744 and the other legs JFK - LHR and LHR - LAX return are all 346.
I spoke to a very helpfull woman at the FC phone support so she could add my newly obtained FC membership number to the trips.
She said I could pre-assign seats too, which was nice. However, for the 744 which is in a week, all UD seats where gone! For the 346 legs all window seats where taken too, except 20A and 21A. (They have IFE boxes obstructing legspace?)
Is it really this bad? All good seats gone?
Those who are experienced VS fliers, which PE seats do you rate?
Checked seatguru and seatexpert, but its only really UD PE which seems to stand out.
