I had asked a FlyerTalk member — in person — whether or not there is a thread such as this one.

Apparently, after attempts to search for it, one does not yet exist — so here it is!

Of course, this milepost will be amended as I meet more FlyerTalk members live and in person.

I personally never thought I would meet any other FlyerTalk members, especially since I did not intend to become a regularly contributing member of FlyerTalk. I believed that I would post a few times and “disappear into the woodwork,” so to speak.

I will attempt at a future date to organize the list chronologically.

In the meantime, please post in this thread all of the FlyerTalk members whom you have met in person and, if desired, post a side comment about how you met or something else that is memorable to meeting each individual FlyerTalk member.

For those FlyerTalk members who have met (or intend to meet) many other FlyerTalk members over the years and want to contribute a definitive list specifically to this thread in consecutive mileposts, it would be suggested to reserve greater than one milepost, just in case...

Here is my list:

1. Cholula — the first FlyerTalk member I have ever met in person. He is the key instrumental person who unknowingly (until now) assisted me in overcoming my hesitation of communicating with (and eventually meeting) other FlyerTalk members.

SOUTH FLORIDA The Great Delta Board PBI-FLL Meet and PBI-FLL Meet: The Serious Version
May 14, 2004

1. belle3388 — I actually met belle at the airport in Atlanta because we found out we were on the same flight and we had made arrangements that I would drive her to the Marriott hotel in Boca Raton in my rental car. We even got to sit in First Class together! After South Florida, we have met several more times, including Atlanta three times (twice with her husband at dinner) and Venice once.

DLfan — As belle3388 was the FlyerTalk member I drove from the airport before the start of the South Florida meet, DLfan was the FlyerTalk member I drove to the airport after the end of the South Florida meet. As we waited for our flights, he was gracious enough to invite me as a guest into the Delta Air Lines Crown Room Club at the airport in West Palm Beach.
4. Traveller — When we met for drinks in the bar area near the lobby of the Marriott in Boca Raton, Traveller, who had never met me before, gave me six National Car Rental certificates, each good for a free car rental for the day. Thank you again for those certificates, Traveller!

ATLANTA Atlanta Meet

1. longing4piedmont was the sole FlyerTalk member at the restaurant when I first arrived early. He was standing at the bar. It was a pleasure meeting him. After the Atlanta Meet, he was kind enough to compiled photographs of the event onto a compact disc and ship it to me. I eventually posted the photographs onto an Internet web site...
2. atl runner — People think I planned this meet, which was the first one in which I have ever been involved in organizing, but although he worked behind the scenes, atl runner was crucial in the planning and organizing. Along with the assistance of belle3388 and Robert Leach (as well as Cholula, who supplied the hot sauce in absentia), the Atlanta Meet would not have happened had it not been for atl runner. Thank you again!

1. KathyWdrf — After lunch together in Murano, I truly enjoyed my trip to the island of Burano with KathyWdrf, as we travelled on vaporettos into the night.
2. ralfkrippner — I met ralfkrippner twice and still have not had any quality time with him to chat and get to know each other better!
3. platbrownguy — This FlyerTalk member is truly unique and fun to be around. I met him again when I was in Dallas.
4. dedehans is one of the sweetest FlyerTalk members one could ever meet.
5. KLC was graciously instrumental when she volunteered to relieve me of my almost-ill-fated idea of compiling the photographs taken by many FlyerTalk members in Venice and burning them onto a compact disc. KLC did an excellent job and I thank her profusely!

I have one more thing to add — I have truly enjoyed every gathering of FlyerTalk members, whether it comprised of a group of 30 people, or it was simply me and another person. I am saddened whenever it is time to say “goodbye” and part ways.

I consider many FlyerTalk members whom I have met as friends — a term I certainly do not use loosely.

I couldn't begin to name all those I met, but they included those at a mini-meet (4 of us) in Israel, the PBI-FLL Meet, the Venice Meet, another mini-meet (two FTers) in FLL, another mini-meet in Boca, one person in Milan and one who came to my kibbutz.

I have compiled a partial list (and please, nobody feel offended if I have met you but not put your name on the list yet; it's just my own bad memory, or my failure to keep this list properly updated). In my nearly four years on FlyerTalk, I have been to so many FT get-togethers that it would be very difficult to list them all at this point.

Anyhow, there are (approximately ) 242 handles here, and I have probably left out about another 50-100.

In chronological order and doesn't include a couple of schoomates (and girlfriend!) who have signed up since I told them! In my Do attendance lists I haven't put the same names in twice! Hence why I appear to meet a decreasing number of people!

BahrainLad - My first FTer! We met at LHR for the final BA Concorde passenger flights in October '03
(Jetinder - Met at final day of Concorde flights although only came on FT very recently to post a couple of times in order to promote his extensive Concorde trip report)
